Ideas for the Next Conference
Things we MUST have
- Food
- Drinks (sodas)
- Coffee
- Someone walking around and taking pictures
Things we might WANT to have
- "Computer Language (terminology). I was lost in several sessions because I didn't understand the terms." this was seconded by another participant.
- Longer sessions especially for sessions such as Games in Education
- For participants who WANT handouts they can go to the open lab and have access to a printer to print out any handouts they need from the wiki.
- Open Lab time with Instructional Tech. Specialist present for those who want to work with and explore the new information and skills presented in workshops.
- Have participants sign in at registration desk whether they want CEU's or not to get more accurate idea of how many attend.
Other Ideas
- Have a conference/miniconference that allows people to bring their students (own kids??)
- Try to get as many administrators as we can to come to the next conference.
- Have sessions specifically targeted for administrators, TAs, classified personnel at same conference.
- FAQ page - for questions like Do I have to come to all the sessions? Do I have to show up for registration on the first morning?
- Do we want to change the theme or keep the same one?
- Podcast (audio and/or video) the sessions
- Make sure that EVERYONE knows they are welcome: TAs, Office Staff, Administrators, CO Staff, etc
- 1 day in the fall and 1 day in the spring
- Make the open lab also be the registration area and then we would have someone manning the lab.
- Have teachers/Melanie/and others present
- Give a business card with the website of the wiki
- Start a wiki that is generic for everyone (ie BCPS Tech) or such
- Maybe not teach as many classes with 2 of us - pull in the IC, teachers, etc
-
Classes to offer?
- eBay
- Sharing/collaborative sessions...have teachers share what they do and what works with each other and allow them to ask for advice and solutions from each other. (We have a wealth of untapped experience and expertise in our own district and need to recognize and take advantage of it.)
- Classroom teachers as presentors showcasing what they are doing. We identify some and even ask for anyone wishing to present to send in proposal
